$50 DIY WALL Mural
If you have boring walls, an affordable way to spruce it up is to paint a bold wall mural. That is exactly what I did to our boring brown walls in our dining room for $50 of chalk paint. I chose a bold pattern, but in the end I decided I wanted to tone down the paint color from red to a muted light blue. See my TikTok below for the before and after transformation!
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
Paint (I used chalk paint)
A paint brush or sponge
Prep and wipe down the walls
Choose 3-5 paint shapes to repeat in a pattern (draw it down on paper beforehand if you want)
Cut out pattern shapes if you want an outline for your pattern (I did not do this and just free-handed it)
Paint the pattern on the walls
Add a second layer of paint if needed
It’s really that easy. The most difficult part is figuring out what pattern you’d like to go with, but I recommend sketching it out on a piece of paper beforehand if you don’t want to “free-hand” it. This was a weekend project for me and I will say it took longer than I expected. I suggest finding a good podcast, audiobook, or playlist while working on this one. Have fun!
