$50 DIY Wall Hanging

When you have a big empty wall, there’s a million ways to fill the space. In my new home, we have 14-foot ceilings, so it was a pretty big space to fill. I wanted to fill it with something grand—a single piece. I already had a lot of art in my home, so I needed something to add another layer of texture. Thus, I opted for a wall hanging—but they can be a bit pricey. I decided to tackled this as a DIY and headed to the fabric store!

@cindiyang DIY fabric wall hanging! Finally something to hang on our empty wall #diyhomedecor #homedecor #interiordesign #diywallhanging #wallhanging ♬ Young Folks - Shindig Society

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Fabric wide and tall enough to fill your wall space

  • A sewing machine

  • Thread

  • A curtain rod

  • Nails

  1. Sew the top of your fabric so it can be inserted into the curtain rod

  2. Install the curtain rod holders on your wall at the appropriate height

  3. Insert the fabric into the curtain rod

  4. Hang the fabric on the curtain rod into place

  5. Nail the bottom of the fabric to the wall to hold it in place

Tip: Make sure to keep the fabric is smooth and unwrinkled before working on it. This project took me a half-day and has completely transformed my living room on a budget. I hope you have fun with this one.
